LOST & FOUND

Being lost … being found!  Two events in everyone’s life.  No matter what the situation is, everybody, in any point of one’s life, will always say: I was lost… I was found …!  It is also true with me …  Many times in my forty-eight years of existence in this life, can I say, ” I was lost … I was found!”  But, among all these “lost and found” experiences, one just stood out in every sense.  It happened many years back … err, twelve years ago.  Wow, how time passed by and it is still so fresh and vivid in my mind.   It happened in Milan, Italy.  It was 1996, summer, and I was a guest at the parish of the Rogationists at Trezzano sul Naviglio.  I never knew the city of Milan, a visit here and there at the center, but thats all …  One day everything will change.   I had to meet a good friend, Giampierro, at the center of the city, precisely at his place of work, the Center of the missionaries, PIME.  I was thinking it would just be an ordinary day.  I would be taking the public bus to go to the city.  As I was leaving, the parish priest insisted I take the car …  It was a battle over pride and humility (His question was: You don’t know how to drive? … Of course I do know how to drive!), and so, empowered by my pride, and after all the proddings, I drove towards the city … First, wrong turn on the expressway: I headed towards the city Varese instead of  the city of Milan.  Getting my nerves, I went through a loop and drove straight to the center of the city … the traffic was okay then, the ride was smooth … turns and straights … finally, I passed by the “ferie di Milano”, supposedly the exhibit center, so I thought I was already at the center.   No, it was just a feeling , not a certainty!  The next thing in my mind was to look for a parking along the street … I was helpless… I did not know where I was … But  I went straight, turned left, turned right and again turned left … And there, I saw a space in between two Fiat cars.  So I parked just near a big brass gate …  The first impulse was to know where my location was and  make a call … and there was no public phone. So I walk straight ahead … turned right … turned left … turned right and found myself right on the path of a Postman (Thank heavens)!  Asking for the location of the PIME Center instead, he began saying to me: “Go back … turn left … turn right … turn left … go straight … you can see a gate.  It is there!”   I followed his directions, and luck of all lucks,  I found out, I parked my car just right there!  Unbelievable!  Was I lost?  Have I found?  I don’k know but the biggest problem proved to be …  finding my way back to the parish… and honestly, I was lost!

This is very nice Master Jok… most of the times, it’s in being lost and found that we learn our lessons in life… it’s in these experiences that we come face to face with our weaknesses only to discover that in us is also the strength to go on and continue what we’ve started.

We all need to feel lost or be lost inorder to know the right way for us to go. When you are lost, dont feel bad…you might just find something right while being lost.
