UNBELIEVABLE YET TRUE!

I have so many stories to tell in my eighteen years in the ministry. Like this one which happened on my first year of priesthood and on my first year of mission in rwanda, circa 1993. I was assigned in our parish mogumbwa then. The parish was big, I say, immense, with three-hundred square kilometer area. There was a main church in mogumbwa and two satellite churches: kibayi and kirarambogo. In order to go to these churches, we need cars. And we had two vehicles then: a new suzuki jeep and an old toyota pick-up. There were three of us, an Italian and another Filipino which really helped ease our ministry; we took turns celebrating Mass here and there … And we had an unwritten rule then: who gets first the key, drives the car … We usually go for the key of the new car! One sunday, I forgot about the key at all and so I had to settle with the pick-up. As I was getting out of the driveway, the first signs of an engine failure emerged … I was apprehensive and tensed because I had to drive sixty kilometers of rough roads, cross creeks and climb hills … Anyway, I encouraged myself to go on and focus my driving … and calling all the Divine Interventions! I begged God not to put people on the roadside who would ask for a “hitch” to go to the church … as stopping would mean not to restart the engine again! The trip was okay and good as it negotiated through steep climbs and turns and downs … but as I was beginning to like the travel, lo and behold, an old man was on the road ahead walking, for sure, towards the church: a mere three hour walk from his place! I prayed hard that he would not ask for a hitch … but then, he did! Crisis of conscience … will I stop or not? And it was a bushy place, no settlements. O yes, I did stopped … went down the pick-up, helped him climb the car … however, the car just won’t restart no matter how I turn the ignition key! I asked the man if he knows how to drive as I would push the vehicle to start it … poor man, he may not had a chance in his life to touch the steering wheel … Anyway, I protested to God , well, even I knew how to protest! “I said then that “I was going to the church not for me, but for “Your people”, so make a way then”. Well, He could have heard me that time and the car started when I turned the ignition again … and it just sped on the road, with no problem at all, seemingly though. Many others hitched on the road, I think twenty or so of them at the back of the pick-up, no problem as they were much younger and can climb over the car … the motor just sounded strange though! As I saw the church at a distance I was glad we made it just on time for the first Mass … Arriving there, the motor just went “puff” right at the middle of the road infront of the church … I still remember I said, “O God, you did not even let me park well?” Anyway, people came and pushed the car to the side of the road … After the Mass, I asked for the village mechanic to check the motor … After lifting the hood, he understood something was amiss … and he was puzzled how the car could have ran with a cord missing! Well, yes, most of the times God makes a way … and for sure I was not the only driver that sunday morning ride…. After all, I was going for Him and his people that day!

Padz, let’s sell this story to Toyota cars. For sure there’s a scientific explanation why and how it happened. Saving a cord in their engine entails millions of dollars savings in the production line. What do you think?

Hehe … pwede nila himuong adverstisement: God drives our cars! hahaha
Dili man jud to ma-explain ug science kay cord man to sa electric charge paingon sa motor box ang nawala …
