What’s wrong with voting for a non-catholic?

Who will be our next President?
I had a chat with our mother in Moalboal just awhile ago regarding her choices for president, and our conversation led to her mayor in the local election. She’s so firm with her decission to vote for the husband of the incumbent mayor. When asked why, her only reason was, ” ay katoliko man gud. Dili ko sa kontra kay dili na siya katoliko!”
What is wrong of being a non-catholic?
If she represents the more than 40 million catholic voters in this country then my candidate should kiss his presidential bid good bye. He’s a non-catholic, could be the only non-catholic among the presidentiables, but is the most credible candidate among them. I do not need to mention his name.
It goes without saying then that our next president is either an overperforming Tondo boy(accused of pocketing billions of pesos kick-back), or an underperforming scion(who’s done nothing as a legistator).
There’s nothing new to expect after the election if that’s the case. Our only hope is devine intervention. Or, they will encounter a near death experience , repent for their sins, and start working for others! Otherwise, start counting for another six years. See you next election!

well, well. Mama has her own reasons why she will vote for Titing and not for Pocong .. religion is a non issue in philippine elecetion: after all we had Ramos as a president .. and protestant as he is, it was never a problem .. his wife Ming was even a usual visitor to our orphanage in Silang, Cavite.

at the end of the day, a leader will be judged based by his accomplishments and how he executed his responsibilities and not by his religious affiliation.
